My cousins love this hairstyle!!
hehe
I have pictures of them to show how baduy they were.
hehe
Somebody used to have a poster of this guy on her wall. She had this, I had Menudo!
I am an 80s kid. 80s to the max except for the clothes though. Well, because I grew up in the 80s, how can I forget that amazing decade? It was just fun. Listening to DYBU, eating People Power cheese curls with a free sticker in each packet, and who could forget the games that we played in the evening especially when there was a brownout? My older cousins would water the ground to make lines for tubig-tubig and of course, me always being the "flower," being the youngest, it’s just really nostalgic! We didn’t care if there was Martial Law. Hey, we were just kids. But we couldn’t forget how my parents would tell us to finish eating or else army tanks would come and get us.
Back in the province of Bais, it was just sheer heaven. We used to swim in a clear BLUE river. Yes. It was crystal clear. You could actually see fishes in the water swimming. We also used to get water from a well. As in a tabo. It was fun getting and pulling water from it with no sendiments in it. It was pure drinking water. And the beach! Ah, paradise. No garbage, no plastic, no empty corniks wrapper and beer can floating in the sea.
I miss those days. I wish we could go back.

They said it's the best Canadian coffee. they love their Tim's.
Expensive.
I'd love a cup but I shouldn't since it's 9:34 p.m. now, I shouldn't be drinking anything with caffeine
or else I'd be tossing and turning in my bed later.

one of my sketches. i don't know what it's called, i just copied it from an illustration in a Merriam-Webster dictionary.
and here's the legendary SIGBIN!
actually, it's just a picture of a wallaby, I drew it from an old National Geographic Magazine. It's not much. but it's a SIGBIN.
And this one, if I could remember right is a mastif, still drew it from a dictionary illustration.
I have been browsing through a lot of Moleskine sketches blog and since I love sketching, all I want for next year is a Moleskine sketch pad.
The notebooks available at Powerbooks are only TWO: a planner and a reporter's notebook.
ONLY TWO!!
how pathetic.
so hard to look for Moleskines in Cebu, y'know.

hooked on TV series lately
Friday, April 20, 2007well, first there was Prison Break that I still can't wait for its season 3 to begin this August. Three months from now and the story will take us to Panama and I hope there'll be more twists this season as compared to the second one. I hope the real identity of Pad Man will be revealed too because that white coat lab of his at the last episode itches me like crazy. I wonder what that character is for? Is he like, the President of some secret scientific research organization and is studying Schofield because he was borne out of a meteor that plunged down the earth, just like Superman and that his brother Linc is actually the Pope in disguise?! Now that's what I call a TWIST.
Now, I've been not so calm lately ever since I finished the first 18 chapters of Heroes. I can't stop thinking about it! love it, love it. but I don't love X-men less. It's that just heroes has some really personal touch to its characters. The last 5 chapters of this TV hit will be shown on Monday in the U.S. but I still would have to catch the show on RPN-9 (i just remembered, i deleted this channel on the TV preset since I never really watch channel 9. heh but guess what, every Thursdays about 8 or 7 years ago, I never dared miss an episode of Felicity. I couldn't get enough of felicity's love affair with her super crush, Ben who, by the way, is mcHottie, in his days.
" A young fresh out of high school girl, follows her high school crush to college to be near him" aaww.. *gawks* but for me the funniest episode was when Sean, Ben's roommate, asked him to feel his "nuts" because Sean was kinda worried that he might have prostate cancer haha "can you feel my nuts?"
yeah, that's why I've been away from blogging lately, aside from my day job, I've some TV series to catch up on. how I wish I could go back or turn the clock around to my freshman or sophomore year in college. Best time of life! And my best figure ever. haha. But now, ballooned. totally. anyway, back to reality. Hafta to get to work tomorrow really early. Our operations manager, for the time being, talked to me and asked if I could join 6 other people for a dinner meeting with our department's vice-president, who will be flying in from Manila to Cebu. How could I say no if it was already her who was asking me? I could've said no, knowing that I've made plans to go to my colleague's birthday party that same night? Oh well, I guess, in this corporate world, work comes first. I'm cool with it as long as I won't be doing any talking, just eating.
Labyrinth and the Worst Witch
Tuesday, March 6, 2007I have every reason to believe that J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter is somehow inspired by the movie, Labyrinth, a Jim Henson and Lucas Film production. Ever seen that movie? It stars Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. Funny part is that there's this dwarf character named Hoggle and Sarah (Connelly's character) even called him, "Hogwart" when he didn't want to help her through the labyrinth. another similarity is the white owl character in the movie, when it's in its human form will turn into Jareth, the King of the Goblin City.
After watching and pondering on some movies that are somewhat akin to the Harry Potter story, a movie/TV series came to mind. My childhood friend, Rodalyn and I used to play "The Worst Witch (1986),"We would imagine ourselves as Mildred Hubble and her best friend Enid… cooking up potions and riding on walis tingting as our broomsticks for transportation as well as hating the antagonist character Ethel Hallow. It was even written 23 years before Harry Potter even existed. I wished I'd see that movie again, or at least the TV series for that matter.
boy, do I love the 80s.
another movie that I remember and loved the most was Takarajima Ensei/Peach Boy. I never expected IMDB to have it but it did, only that the description of the movie wasn't complete. I think the movie was based on a Japanese folklore where a child was inside a huge peach fruit and it came flying into a house of a childless elderly couple. The peach broke into two and there came out a little boy who was then raised by the couple as if he was their very own. and then years passed, the peach boy set out on a quests to a mountain. Along the way, he gained unlikely friends with magical powers: A dog, a monkey and a bird. I remember he fought against the Gensing Man, but that's about the best I could remember. (God, how I wish I could get my hands on that film!) We have that Japanese story though in our Childcraft books, the boy's name was Momotaro, the Little Peach Boy and the story was called The Island Of The Ogres.
any of it sounds familiar?
My dad used to rent a lot of movies. We'd watch like 5 to 8 movies a week and that's quite expensive in the 80s. How I'd love to watch Ewoks again. The Battle of Endor, Zee Boyfriend loved this movie and I'd have to wait to watch it, There's also the Return of the Ewok, Ewok Adventure.
Ewoks are so cute. haha. aah.. Quiet. I'm reminiscing my happy childhood. ….
d’original siomai sa Tisa
Thursday, March 1, 2007PEOPLE, stop asking me why I've put on a lot of weight. Dios mio. It's really no secret why.
See, it's because of this:
O yesiree.. that's the culprit so don't blame me. heh.
I know you want some… That's D'Original Siomai sa Tisa. No, not the Fuente ones (the siomai wrappers in those are long detached from the meat, so that's why it's not as good as the one that you buy directly from Tisa).
Last year, I got so addicted to these babies that almost every week, I'd be there, lining up with the rest of the adis-adis sa siomai.. my appetite for it cannot be satiated. I wonder what the secret ingredient is… hmmm.. singot siguro ni manang nidagayday sa halang nga sauce (in english, maybe the lady sauce maker's sweat would run down her forehead and goes directly to the sauce, that's the secret!). It's not only delish, but it's only for P6/piece. it has become one of the staple diet of Cebuanos. Already branching out to Banawa and Fuente/B. Rodriguez, D'original Siomai brand has already made a name for itself. With an especially extra hot sauce and partner it with Cebu's famous puso or hanging rice, you'll have an inexpensive and delicious budget meal. Or eating it all by itself is just as delightful.
want more?! I know you do.
PALIT IMO!
hahaha!
p.s. they should pay me for this advert. heh.
lovely breakfast
Monday, February 26, 2007I had a wonderful breakfast from my auntie. Thanks, Nang! Love yah. Right when I stepped into the dining room, I was happily greeted by the sight and smell of a beautiful traditional Cebuano breakfast:
hhmmmmmmmmm… delightful, isn't it? that's puto/sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves, sikwate or hot chocolate made with real cocoa tablets or what Cebuanos call tableya, and of course, golden yellow ripe mangoes. my favorite breakfast. yummy. and I eat it by slicing a piece of puto with a fork and dipping it in the hot cocoa drink like so:
The puto is somewhat purplish or reddish in color, i think it's made from puwa nga bugas or brown sticky rice, a variety of pilit. My auntie bought this in Day-as where there's a quite popular putohan. Think it's called "Sine's Putohan," or something like that. More people go there during midnight mass or Misa de Gallo and the putohan was even featured in RCTV's Ismol Tym with Budoy Maraviles. Lami kaayo mokaon si budoy, naglaway gud ko, dili tungod niya ha, tungod sa puto. heh.
